If not what is a good material?

when i first started out skating i got a zero thats pretty small i think the length is like like 26 or 28 inches and 7.5 width. After that i got a new board that just had canadian maple and the flag in the middle and it was a good board and i liked it alot, i think it was 7.75 7.8 or maybe 8 im not sure but it recently broke.i had stopped skating for about 4 years and im just getting back into and im trying to decide what board i should get, i dont do things off high ledges/stairs etc, just mainly flat ground and maybe 2-4 set of stairs or medium size ledges. looking for something that will last a bit and not break. also my zero boards tail flattened out at the end of the tail, i guess its from how i used it to stop but idunno. the maple was a 30 inch in length. im 5’11 and have a 11.5 shoe size if it helps

but in the description it says: “7ply 100% Canadian Maple ”
so is it actually made from bamboo or just colored?
and is it worth it ?

besides e bay? and how come when i ollie my skateboard turns to half a 180?

My 10 year old son wants a skateboard for christmas and as I was attempting to shop for one I noticed that there are 9-ply or 7-ply boards with canadian maple or american maple wood. Could someone who has some knowledge with skateboards please help me before I waste money on the wrong thing? As I said before, he is 10 years old and skateboarding is almost all he talks about.
